Here's a question from a beginner gardener living in Las Vegas, where we have a short winter with night-time temps possibly in the low 30's or high 20's, and often strong cold winds. If I cover certain plants for the winter (my Elephant's Food shrubs, for instance, which almost died last winter because the sheet I covered them with got blown away several times) do I need to uncover them in the daytime to get sunlight? Will they eventually adjust to our winters, or will I have to cover them every winter forever? The winter daytime temps can be anywhere from the high 30's to the high 50's and the sun mostly very bright, even in winter. Yes, I know it's only May, but I'm planning ahead.
