I bought some 'mushroom compost' from Lowe's this year to amend some of my raised beds. I THOUGHT it was such a rich 'soil'. Turns out it's been full of 'weed seeds' .... and it's mostly like dust. I've been pulling weeds...and pulling weeds. They come up easily enough...but UGH -- Will never use it again.

Lowes and HD don't sell the quality products they claim. I've had similiar experiences pretty much everytime I bought something from them. (Needless to say I don't buy much at these stores, anymore.) Ask to open the bag and actually look at the product before purchasing. If they refuse, take your business elsewhere. Such as an independent nursery that values their customers.
