My son has just purchased a home with an entire bed of bearded iris. They're all finished blooming now. There are so many they look over crowded and look like they need to be divided. (Plus I want some :) - I know at some point the leaves need to be cut back, so when do you do this? Also should they be divided at this time?
I always get good advice from all, thanks for your help in advance.

Hope this helps.

Divide in late summer
Cut off spent bloom stems, close to the ground, don't cut leaves till late fall early winter then cut to 6"
Your advice and the link you sent were great! Thanks!
You're quite welcome.
