I don't know what it is but wanna guess maranta 'prayer plant' or some type of diffenbachia. I'm sure someone will know what it is and if they don't maybe try posting in the plant id forum.

It is a Calathea.

Your plant looks like Calathea roseopicta: http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&q=calathea+roseopicta&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=univ&ei=aqAJTMyhF4K88gay6LWNBw&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=4&ved=0CC8QsAQwAw

Calathea prefer lower light situations, no direct sun, consistently moist (but not soggy) soil and high humidity. I have two Calathea but have never tried propagating them so have no advice for you there. You can increase the humidity around your plant by sitting the pot on a tray of moist pebbles, or by misting it daily.

They like well drained soil too. They have a tendency to rot if the soil that doesn't drain well.
