it had to happen
we are gonna have to cough up $15 to stay here.
I am willing to do so are you?
Mark
DG goes down the subscription route
Sure am. Already took care of it :)
Yep didn't have to think twice about it.Already did it.
No question about it. I wouldn't leave for anything.
No Problem
Mark,
I'm currently digesting a lot of information from our members who are outside of the United States. Would you please also E-mail me your suggestions or concerns on how this will affect you?
It's easy to swallow $15 US, but I am hearing that it can be upwards of over $50 when paid from outside the states. Let me hear from you.
dave
I couldn't stand it if i didn't see that "welcome home"
I'm mailing a check tomorrow.
I was under the impression that if you use Visa, it will be converted into whatever currency you want ... outside EU, I think it costs an extra 2.5%. American friends used their cards without trouble in Scotland this year, as we did too and I regularly use it for purchases in England . If we want to send a cheque in $$ , we buy a bank draft. It costs an extra £1 from our bank . I am sure there must be cheaper ways to send foreign currency than those mentioned by the UK members.
Jane in Ireland
ready to sign up payday. I get much more than $15 worth from this site. Very thankful for all that Dave and Trish do, and all of you guys too. Less than a cup of coffee a day, no problem.
I'm here and I'm gonna stay! It's worth waaaay more than Dave is asking of us. Seems like we are always asking something of him...and he always seems to come through.Time to give back folks.
The check is in the mail....hehehe.....no really it is!

I am that UK member and yes there are cheaper ways but I was refering to sending a cheque when I stated the cost, partly to warn others from mailing out a cheque that they may think will only costs a few pounds. Not everyone has a credit card as I'm sure you know.
There are alternatives like international money orders, bank drafts and Transcash but this may incurr a cost to Dave and a little more expense to the sender. It also depends on what country you are in, UK and Republic of Ireland have it a little easier and of course we mustn't forget the currency conversion too. Other countries will have different money order companies and sometimes the minimum cash order is a couple of hundred dollars US.
I agree it is worth talking to the bank about the conversion rates and money order options but I can only speak from a British perspective as I have no idea how it works out in other countries.

I dislike being number 13 LOL daft person that I am!
Check out your post office or similar in your country too, they sometimes are far cheaper to use than banks and can sometimes offer international transfers too.
I will not be joining and will continue onward in lurker status only . My agenda differs somewhat from Dave's so it seems . Best to you all !!!
I'm definitely in too! DH thinks it's a GREAT idea because it keeps out of Walmart :-) vic
Im also new to this site.
I'm a commercial grower that sells direct to the consumer.
there appears little interest here in producing for market.
It seems as a site gets popular they start charging a fee.
Looks like I'm back to the Garden web forum.
good luck.
donsproduce: Check out the Market Growers forum - Click on "Forums" on the menu and take a look. We have a lot of market growers here.
Dave
Considering how many free sites there are, I do not at this time see a reason to pay.
I do want to thank you, Dave, for what you have provided for us so far.
donsproduce...I'm a market grower, and have been for yrs. I wish you would post more on the Market Grower forum...if you've been at it a while you'd not only still benefit but also help lead others on. Often-times we learn by teaching. I realize you are somewhat new here. At least hang out during the grace period (two wks?), and then decide. By the way, where are you in zone 6? I'm in zone 7, NC.
My check is in the mail too...LOL I guess you're going to hear a lot of that...but in this case I feel like it is going to be TRUE! Jo
Gardenhubby & I subscribed. Long live DG! We love it here and it's a far site better than the slick monthly mags with all the ads and junk in them! :o)
Yes,no ,maybe.I'm undecided as of yet.Money no problem, just if I leave ,I will get my life back in order.DG is a great and the best site ever ,but I am too hooked on it and now is my chance to wean myself from it.I am a total mess, wake up to it ,stay up late for it.I need to get straightened out before the holidays and a dozen close birthdays between now and then. So we shall see.Jane
P.S. Dave, now that my "check is in the mail" will you , or someone, point me in the right direction to finding out how to put more than ONE picture on my Homepage? I tried to put two, but the second just over rode the first....then maybe someone would also tell me about "hyperlinks". Thanks Mucho, Amigo... Jo
roadrunner, You can only place one photo on your home page but can put the rest into your journal.
As for the hyperlinks, if you type in an address complete with http; and . whatever it will appear as Hyperlink in the actual post. It will not show as a link in the preview. If for some reason it does not show as a link you can go back and edit it to correct anything missing from the address.
Hope this helps you!
I will be sending a check tomorrow to help keep this great site going and to make it even better. After having to take a disability retirement due to a back injury from the nursing profession that I worked at for 15 years this site has helped get me through a very depressing time in my life.I missed work, I missed all my friends and all of a sudden I had no place to go everyday. I found DG and it became my outlet to the outside world full of friends caring.Even though money is tight for many of us now I couldn't even consider not joining.$15.00 is much cheaper than taking antidepressants. :)
You said that right Snowhermit! With winter coming on we can hole up here in DG and stay toasty warm with our friends. I just know the membership will continue to grow and flourish!
Not much problem with you people in the US. I am just thinking of ways and means of staying here with you all.
Didn't even have to think about this. My card was out in a heartbeat. Love this site!!
Count me in! No advertisements, no D**n Popups (hate those things), lots of priceless friends, great software that gets upgraded at customer request, database that gets updated regularly, what more could you ask for? I'm here to stay. I will also gladly help out with the Garden Angel Program too.
Sharon
I, like Kat, whipped out the card in a heartbeat. No question!! I love it here.
Love in Christ,
Janie

Me Too, I'm staying.

Ya'll ain't getting rid of me! My barefeet are firmly planted on the floor, my south-end comfortably restin' in my rocker, my fingers twitchin' on the keyboard, and my eyeballs are glued to the DG screen! The multitude of various forums keep me entertained for hours! The goodness of you folks out there keeps me wonderfully aware how great we humans can be. The pics and the posts are how I get to travel the World, and am usually let right inside folk's homes and hearts! Besides, I need ya'll...who am I gonna bombard, whoops...I mean SHARE(!)bits and pieces of life's episodes with, and continue living to tell about it?
Looking back on the announcement thread, I was the first person to post and say I had no problem paying. I respect that Dave cannot foot the bill forever. And it is truly awesome to have a webmaster that contributes and participates. Before I could even get my debit card and return, I had an email saying someone sponsored me. Words cannot express my sincere gratitude. Like everyone else, we have had our share of ups and downs and money is tight. But I thought I would forego that one more pkg of maternity panties, subscribe and just do laundry more often! LOL I have been to many other websites and used other websites too, but none are the same as Daves because Dave and Trish are real people that are really here. I'm happy to be a part of DG. Thank you to my Garden Angel. :)
Michele
I am glad to subscribe to this wonderful site. I have been here riding along for free since Jan. This site has grown by leaps and bounds from about 300 when I joined to over 4000. That means Dave has to keep pace with all of us by putting out money for new equipment and more time to monitor the site. It is about time we got to help!
would if I could but can't so I won't
guess this is good-bye and a short-lived domicile for me
i am more than happy to plunk down my $15 to continue participating in Dave's Fabulous Garden. The website itself is wonderful (and the recent improvements are totally swell, dave!), the people are absolutely the best and it makes me feel very comfortable to know i have a place to go with all my gardening questions, to share pictures of my pride and joy and to have an opportunity to see what other people are up to. rah dave rah!
