We have a hugh cedar tree in our yard with growing brown spot. My neighbor just told me that I have a severe infestation of bag worms. She says the only way to help the tree is to manually remove the bags. they're killing the tree slowly but the tree is so tall and big there's no way we can tackle that. Any suggestions?
Bag Worms
Chemical control is an option, but this must be timed carefully to be effective, as the larvae are most susceptible shortly after they hatch and begin to feed. See http://tinyurl.com/25wnutf for some general guidance, and check with your county extension service office for more specific information - see http://tinyurl.com/2febdqn for contact information.
Thank you Suunto
Fertilome makes a concentrate called Bagworm & Borer and it contains spinosad, an organic that works very, very well. if you have a good hose end sprayer or even a power washer, you should be able to shoot it all over the trees very well. i buy mine in the garden department at Ace.
