Oh I loved that Mauve dark star on the other thread. Helena congrats on that one.
Jackie I can't wait to show you the blooms from the seeds you sent me, I have them coming up and vining so shouldn't be long. I have not seen pandurata come up in all the places I planted it tho, and I am very discouraged about that. even the seeds from you and emma did not sprout. the one seedling I had that sprouted inside, died when it went outside. How sad.I planted all that I had. Here is hoping one will show up.

Jackie - Here is one of the vines of the seeds you sent me for Fuji no Sora! Beautiful! It has finally recovered from the transplant and is producing blooms once again. ;-)

Oh my gosh Becky, it is beautiful. Love the pattern and the
color.
Debra, I will gather more sds for you this coming fall. I would say
plant a seed or two directly in the ground after it warms to the 80's next late spring or early summer

Norfolk, VA

Here is the first flower of my (early call pink x blue) x large-flowered speckled pink 3 way cross. It probably have inherited some characteristics from it's grandma, early call pink. the bloom is nearly 4" across, larger than the early call pink I grew.

A question !
At home Ipomoea Nil Volunteers are invasive (in quantity as Purpurea) or rare from time to time?
With me along the fence only 3 places where I found a few volunteers.
I have transplanted them, I am glad to know what seeds resist a cold and wet winter !

Really nice blooms Tony.

Helena. Your blooms are absolutely
beautiful and so glad you are sharing them with us.
Very unusual bloom on WB. It was very pretty though.
Love the pink striped blizzard

(Zone 7a)

Dany, in our zone, which averages a winter minimum of 0*F, Ipomoea nil is not known to self-sow. However, a couple of years ago, a seedling from Emma self-sowed that she called "emargined gray", whose flowers are pictured below. The flowers were true to the parent.

Would you like some seeds from this volunteer?

Hi Tony, please tell me more about your pinching method, when and where? Thanks in advance.
Jon

Jon, I just let the vines climb a the way up the strings and I pinch them back. Afterwards, I just pinch back every 2-3 weeks. This makes the single plant very bushy producing 60-150 flowers a day.I can harvest thousands of seeds after the growing season. Hopefully that helps. Here is the bushy vine.

Thanks Tony, thats really cool, mine are just getting to the stage where I can pinch them. I've 19 vines so they should put on quite a show using your method!

Tony - That's pretty impressive! How many different cultivars of MGs do you grow at one time? I do pinch mine too and they do get bushy but not like yours. =:-O

You live in a cooler zone than me. My vines would never get as large as yours because of the heat here and the condition of the ground soil. I see your MG roots are shaded by the fence. No shade here at all unless it's full shade under my Oak trees.

Don't know what I would do with 1000 seeds of one cultivar. (I don't sell on eBay or anywhere else and even running a group seed trade, I wouldn't know enough folks to trade that many seeds! LOL!) What are you planning to do with all your seeds? Just curious.

Tony, Hope it's not rust. You might want to spray a fungicide just in case.
It spreads very fast if it is rust.

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

you are a brave man to plant then IN the ground! I like the strings on the fence idea. Might have to try that....

Tokyo, Japan(Zone 10a)

All mine are planted directly into the ground, all be it in raised beds. why is this said to be brave?
I Nils are annuals, the very worst they can do is drop a few seeds! No?
