I'm in Zone 5. Right now I have a bleeding heart planted along side the house. The problem I'm having is that the vent for my clothes dryer blows right on the plant. The poor thing is droopy and yellow. Can anyone suggest another type of perennial I can put there? I may end up just finding some yard art to put in that space.
Thanks,
Debbie
Need help with a difficult area
I'd lean toward the yard art--some plants might tolerate those conditions better than others, but I don't think anything's going to really look its best. If you do really want a plant there, I'd find something that tolerates dry conditions and has thick or waxy leaves--those would probably hold up better.
We have day lilies in front of our dryer vent and they don't seem effected at all.
I have a large viburnum bush in front of my dryer vent. Some larger bushes only leaf on the outside of the bush, the middle of the viburnum is leafless and isn't affected by the vent. If it's a bleeding heart, I'm gonna assume it's in shade; maybe a spirea might do better. What are the growing conditions?
It's planted in an area that gets the late sun. Maybe it's getting too much sun. I have Weigelia's all along that side and they are doing great.
