I recently brought my Hibiscus containers outside to mist them with Neem -- perhaps this is how this insect/ bug got into my house. My dog has been helpful insofar as pointing to this 1-2" bug's location, but so far it has not been captured. An ID would be much appreciated. Snug, :o/
Oh No! It's in my house!! ID much appreciated.
Looks like some sort of centipede--maybe the house centipede? http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/4856/ They tend to find their way into houses all on their own so it didn't necessarily hitch a ride on the hibiscus.
Your response is much appreciated. From the images on the link you presented above, I think it's a centipede too -- its color, markings and numerous extended legs certainly are similar if not the same. It must have a brain too for it to have chosen such good camouflage as my color-coordinated rug! Thank you, Snug :o)
Wow, Snug, I know it grossed you out - but what a GREAT picture!
Eew, I hate those things. Everyone so often one will scoot by me... usually at night when I'm doing laundry in the basement.
Try this link. It is Daves Insect ID forum. They can probably tell you exactly what it is. Good luck catching it and finding it a new home. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/bugid/all/
Thank you for all your input -- insofar as catching it, my dog will do that first, not me. LOL Snug
Definitely a regular ol centipede; my mothers house gets them frequently, nothing to do with plants in her case
