Great shots everyone!!
Nice set of the Oriole at the feeder huggergirl!
Lily, that is a nice peaceful shot of the family of Geese swimming by.
Hack, you will like the 400mm as much I do...after figuring out my problem with the lens Ive been very happy. Those Canada Geese do carry on...every time I go to Pipe Creek the geese announce me. Really nice collection of shots from Cooper Creek Hack!
Duc, nice shots of all your bird's!!... your backyard must be like Eden with all the variety of bird's you have.
Tiger, nice shot of the Yellow-breasted Chat! Sorry to hear about the spray crew...lets just hope the bird's were scared and flew off somewhere for the day.

A few shots from the yard today. Baltimore Oriole has been consistent with his visits and he always starts to sing a little, right before he gets on the feeder.

Burd, you sure covered us up. I liked all your shots, but that B. Oriole is just great - colors are outstanding!. I, too, like the colors of my Grackles.

You said "after figuring out my problem with the lens Ive been very happy", what problem was that?. The problem I had today was trying to photograph something close and the camera refusing to snap the pic. The I remembered that little switch on the lens that lets you select 3.5 to infinity or 8.5 to infinity. When I changed it to 3.5 the camera took the picture. With that in mind, why not just leave it on 3.5, why bother with 8.5?

At this point this 400 prime is the cat's meow. I'm really happy with it. Since I take a lot of pics from my car, I've ordered a window camera mount and a ball head to go on it.

Hack, I had purchased a UV filter for my 400mm..while it was attached my shots were not fully focused or sharp. I took it off a couple of weeks ago and it really made a difference in my pictures. Now it could have just been a faulty filter...but I will put it back on the lens for storage and protection. The built in lens hood on the 400mm is a nice feature and it keeps the lens fairly clean. As far as the switch for 3.5 or 8.5 to infinity ...yeah it doesn't seem to make much sense to have both but I,m sure it was put there for manually focused shots or something.

Burd, I bet you have a messed up UV FIlter. All the pics you've seen lately from me have been taken with my 400mm through a UV filter.
