Awful Bird Pics Vol.15

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Mitch and Mizzy, my Red-Bellied pair had some quality time together yesterday. Taking a break from rearing the 'kids.'

Really Burd...you are going to have to try harder to do worse than that! That shot would make me happy!

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

I'm with the others Burd, this thread is the wrong one for your oriole!

Lily, just be happy you're seeing those cute birds!

Hack, I know the feeling on that one.

My juvie oriole decided to shake it off at the wrong time.

Duc, I just love it when you all captured your birds doing their 'rock and rolls' dance. lol. I'm, I'm very happy seeing my birds caring for their youngs. Both Mom and Pop took turn to bring Jr. to the feeder. Here is Pop with Jr. this morning. Pix isn't quite clear for our daily thread.

LOL, good one duc!

Oh Lily so nice to see the juvie Red-bellieds!

Sorry all, but I thought it was kind of blurry. Guess I posted out of frustration or something.

Well, it's not just AWFUL pictures for this thread, it's disappointing pix. And you know, when you are hoping for something crystal clear and everything else is perfect I can understand how that is really disappointing.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Yes, especially when we're so close to get a crystal clear view, and our hands shook (as in this one):

Lily, your hand shakes too??? I thought I was the only one that had that! LOL

Crap! There was a cardinal feeding at the feeder this Brown-headed Nuthatch landed on. Just prior to my snapping the pic, the redbird took off and the feeder started oscillating. Since the day was cloudy, I couldn't crank the shutter speed up like I like to do. The camera was even on a tripod and I still got this awful pic.

Is Photoshop a free download? Thanks. I thought it was a Mockingbird until I looked at all the pix. Thanks. Buttoneer

Columbus, GA(Zone 8a)

Sorry Buttoneer, Photoshop ain't free. I use Elements 7, made by the makers of Photoshop. It is a lot cheaper. Its a real good program, too.

But if you have the $$$, go with Photoshop.

Carlisle, PA(Zone 6b)

I went to Adobe Photoshop Element 8 and purchased it for for 99.95 with a $ 20 rebate. That is a good price. Thank you.

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Photoshop Elements 5 is what I used. A lot cheaper than the full thing, and still fairly good.

Cheaper than Element 8? Oh well, the chat person was a good salesman. I used to have Adobe Photo Deluxe Business Edition (got it free with another program) and when my pc bit the dust, so did Photo Deluxe and I have been missing it ever since, but it costs between 3-$ 400.00 American and I don't want to spend that sort of money, so I got the Photoshop element 8. Can't wait to get it. Thanks for your help.

Columbus, GA(Zone 8a)

Buttoneer - I think PSE 5 and 7 are just earlier editions PhotoShop Elements. I guess PSE 8 is where they are now.

You're going to enjoy it PSE 8. Like I said, I have 7 and don't use anywhere near all its features.

PSE 5 Looks a lot like photoshop, just some features not available. In later editions they added lots of cool easy to use features. I have a full version of Photoshop and PSE8. Believe me, you wouldn't need a full version just for image adjustments.

Thanks for your help on Photoshop. Looking forward to being able to once again edit my pix. Judy Showers (Buttoneer)

I was thrilled to see this Carolina Wren near the feeder with a what-looks like a feather on her beak. But my excitement didn't help on getting a clear pix of her/him. :((

Oh my ....that's bad! LOL

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

LOL Lily.

I'm still practicing to get good pictures of the Tree Swallows in flight like Dave's getting. Thought I caught this one, but no, I had to be a little slow following the bird.

Here is another qualifier for this thread that I've posted it on our daily. Oooopsy!

Duc, Your almost there!

LOL Lily!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

One of my bad window shots. Here is of a male Downy Woodpecker. It's interesting this is the very spot that most woodpeckers (Red Bellied, Red Headed and now Downy)will use to 'hammer' their peanuts found at the feeder nearby.

Thumbnail by Lily_love
Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

That's interesting Lily. It's the same with all of our Acorn Woodpeckers that store acorns in the trees (snags). We watch several do that and wonder who reaps the rewards.

The camera settings were all wrong, the bird moved at the wrong time. I think this qualifies for this thread.

Well now ....that is pretty darn bad..don't ya hate when that happens. And it happens here a lot! lol

2 attempts at at trying to get the Great Blue Heron in flight...
