I live in West Virginia. We have a large area of very steep hillside where we want to plant a quick growing low ground cover. The soil is sand and clay and the area gets full sunlight all day long. An extension agent here in West Virginia suggested Crown Vetch but I have read some bad things about it. I need some suggestions on what we can plant in this area.
Ground Cover
They say crown vetch will take over a whole area, considered an invasive in areas. We had it at our old house though and it never spread.
Here's a few ideas(you're in zone 6??)
There is a variety of sedums or Ajuga that would be good
or some other ideas...

Thank you so much flowerjen. I was hoping to find something with flowers. I'll check these out.
Last year I learned a lesson about ground covers. They take a while to establish and weeding will have to be done until they do.Whatever you choose try to pick something with larger easily identifiable leaves.
Sometimes small leaf varieties, like soap wart , make it hard to tell friend from foe.
You may consider perennial geraniums. They flower, spread like crazy and have distinct leaves.
St. John's Wort might interest you.
