I've acquired 5 tiny little single sticks of rose of sharon. I put them in the ground last fall and they wintered over well. A few weeks ago they started with tiny little what appeared to be green buds (or leaves) on each of the 5 plants. I live in the western NY area and last week we had some hard frosts and the little greenery has turned to brown. I don't know if this means it killed off the leaves or was the greenery just a precursor to the leaves. I'm worried the frost may have killed them...... can someone please let me know what is going on with my rose of sharon babies :o) thankyou so much.....Sandy
I need information about newly planted tiny rose of sharon
Scratch the stem. If it's green underneath, it should be okay. Mine did that and today I noticed new greenery starting.
depending how cold it got, they may have made it. most times if the first buds get bit the plant won't make it. But try the stem scratch test because that will tell you if it will come back. I hope a few of them made it.
