They are so cute. You must be really enjoying them. So glad this nesting went so well.
My Little Chickadee's Pt. 3
Well it looks like the fledging is over. I couldn't watch yesterday due to rain or today because of work. I was just on the porch today and have seen the parents a few times but they haven't gone to the box. It was a fun/exciting experience.
Indeed it was a very fun, exciting, educational, heart-warming an event. Thank you, Pelle, for sharing the wonderful time with us.
Best wishes to the dees family. ^_^
Pelle,
Do you think they will have a 2nd brood in the same nestbox?
Thanks Lily!
Hi Susan, They normally only have 1 brood during the season. If the first brood hadn't been successful yes they would have tried again but not in the same nesting place.
I heard some of the family over near the shed up in a tree.
I opened the nest box and it's completely empty and very clean. ^_^
Congrats pell! You did a great job protecting the nest and posting all of those wonderful pics.
Thanks Margaret. I'm so glad everything turned out great for these wonderful little birds.
Pelle, congratulations on a successful brood. Let's hope you see a lot of the fledglings. They are so sweet.
Do you mean they took everything out of the nest box?
Hi GP, I meant there was no poop or other dirt, it looked just the way it did when she first built the nest.
Thank you Margaret.
Congratulation Pelle, wished I could have witnessed it along with you. Glad everything went well.
Thanks burn.
ahh the sweet smell of success, and a clean nest box, wish I could have been there .i doubt that I will witness the fledging of my robins, but I will keep cking on them.I didnt realize chicadees use a box,now Iam hoping next yr a chickadee box for me...Thanks pelle
Well, those are the nice kind of renters...that leave everything clean!
LOL, GP.
Congrats! It will be interesting to see if they still try to claim the box like the bluebirds do through the off months. Have you seen them at the suet yet?
No but I haven't been out there that much.
Speaking of the suet log the Dad Downy Woodpecker came over to it along with a fledge who was on the beam of the porch. He didn't seem able to cling very well so he perched until Dad brought him suet. It was really cute, I hope I have the camera next time.
One of the chickadees was just on the log but on the opposite side so no pic. I saw them fly off to the pine trees just to the right in the next yard and then I could hear more of them including the fledges.
In the half broken tree thats in this photo there is a robins nest with chicks. This is a great time of year!
This was really fun to watch..thanks for sharing it with us pelle.
Pelletory I did not realize you had this thread going. Those are my little buddies. I am subscribed now and will have to go back to the beginnings (went back...nice). Lucky you. I found a couple working on nest but when I went back...nothing. Fortunately my backyard buddies bring their little ones to my house to eat. One thing I noticed about these little guys and gals, they are not afraid of me. Great series.
