I just picked up a 3 lb. bag of Yukon Gold seed potatoes from the clearance bin today. Is there still time for me to plant them? I'm in zone 10.
Thanks.
Is it too late to plant potatoes?
Hi Quyen...
I'm in Phoenix and the very latest to plant here is the first of March. Potatoes are one of those crops you plant early spring, as soon as the soil can be worked...
You may be able to plant a fall crop where you are at. I've never done it here but may consider it.
Hi Quyen,
Since you live in zone 10, it might be too warm now. Potatoes need soil temperatures of around 70 degrees to grow well. It is still probably worth a shot though. Make sure to mulch them heavily with straw and water them very well.
You could also supply shade during the hottest parts of the day.
Good luck and hope they work out :-)
