Hello,
First time gardner using a raised 4'x8' "grow camp" greenhouse/garden. Looking to plant some peppers, cherry tomatoes, onions, basil, cilantro. My questions is regarding location. My house has a lot of trees and no one spot will receive sun all day long. I have a location on the side of my house that will get 6 1/2 hours (as of today) of direct sunlight beginning in the morning at approximately 9:30 AM. The second location is in the back of my house and receives about 7 1/2 hours of sun, but does not begin to get sun until around 11:00 - 11:30 AM. I've heard that morning sun is better for veggies.
Any replies greatly appreciated!
Newbie needs advice about location of raised garden!
I would take the morning sun. Of course down here our temps are a lot hotter than yours and I have to try to protect mine from that hot evening sun.
I'm with Jim, and of course we're even hotter here in the desert. 6 1/2 hours of nice am sun should be just fine. As summer comes on that may increase a bit depending on the angle of the sun through all your trees. How nice you have all that natural shade! Please keep us posted on your progress. Pictures are welcome - we love pictures!
