Looks like a wolf spider to me, but I'm no expert

Have you tried the insect and spider identification forum? They maybe more helpful.

Albuquerque, NM(Zone 7a)

I agree with both posters before me but would add spiders are generally beneficial.

I know spiders are generally beneficial and I usually am fine with them living outside. I even let some of them be in the basement. But did you notice that this spider seems to have hair on her legs? Man, that's creeping me out. And the fact that she stood still to get her picture taken convinces me that she is either a) a European Runway Model Spider or b) a Big Hairy Scary Spider.

*G* I'm gonna say jumping spider. Wolf spiders are many times that size.

They don't have much in the way of pitures, but there's one that lives here which looks much like yours, Black and white, fuzzy, with bright green eyes.

I like them:)

San Jose, CA

that spider looks scary!! I came to the beginner veggies forum to look at veggies and the spider keeps creeping me out.

*G* prettymess, check the titles on the threads before you click. We wouldn't want you scared away...

Boston, MA(Zone 6a)

I agree it looks like a jumping spider. If it has jerky movements it probably is a jumping spider. I've never seen one like the link provides. I've seen adult ones jump on a bumblebee and take it down.

FYI if you swat at it and miss - plan on getting bit. They are quick little buggers.
