Glory bower/ Cashmere Bouquet question

Lake Charles, LA

I got a Cashmere Bouquet plant about a month or two ago. I put it in a pot, because I was reading that it can be invasive. I saw the lady I got it from today and she told me it wasn't invasive and it needs to be in the ground.
Would like advice on the plant if anyone has had experience with it. I've heard it makes a beautiful bloom.

That particular clerodendrum/clerodendron can be a bit invasive, particularly if it really likes where it is planted. My neighbor keeps her's in control with the lawnmower and a shovel. I keep mine in a large container with a drip tray under it to prevent escapees. I have had mine for about 5 years and it stays out through the winter in the container. The flowers do smell like the soap and powder of the same name.

Ok, glad to here that you grow it in a pot. I guess I need to get a drip tray.

If it gets happy where it is it will put out roots everywhere....this way they coil in the pot and I can cut them off before they travel. If I had a really large area I would put them in the ground, but even an acre isn't enough room. I had an old crawfish tray like you find at Dollar General ....it works really well out in the garden.
