I am very new to gardening/landscaping. I purchased a new construction home in the Northwest Chicagoland area and I am in need of a living fence. I already have a 5ft cedar fence but the problem is that I have an English basement as do my neighbors, which means that all of our decks are raised a good 6 ft off the ground. I am in need of quick privacy and the only way to accomplish this is to create a living fence that is about 15ft tall. 6 ft to hide the deck and at least another 6 to hide us standing on it. I really only need it so tall for about the first 10-15 ft on both sides of my yard. I was looking at 8ft skyrocket junipers but they seem awfully thin and staggering them would get costly I think. I am also looking for near immediate coverage and am not looking to wait 5 yrs for growth. If I could buy them or something similar at at least 10 ft high I would find it worth the price i'm just not sure if that is possible or where to look! Any fast growing, slimmer evergreen suggestions? or nurseries with LARGE evergreens from anyone that lives in the chicago area?
