I have access to pine needle mulch that was processed about 2 weeks ago. Can I use that on all my flower beds or just around certain plants?
Mulch question
Yes, you can use pine straw on all your beds.
Thank you---people are telling me pine needles are too acidy and right now they are too "hot" after just being processed. Hope they are just jealous for not having acess to a free mulch! Thanks
You are welcome. We have used pine straw the same day it was processed with no adverse effects.
We've had several rough winters (Tn) and I've lost several evergreens. I took the ground wood and it's worked very well with zero problems predicted by the "experts". (It is, after all, the same stuff that Home Depot sales.) It disintegrates over time and is good for filling holes for plants needing "drainage".
You can't beat the price!
i use the pine straw to help keep the heat out and moisture in. if my plants dont have it they look terrible in 90 to 100 or so weather. i use it for everything. i have pine trees but still run out and have to buy some at times.
if you are worried let them set out and air for a few more days. sometimes i do that when it smells strong .
Thank you all for your encouragement - this is a great site to seek advice - I am sure I will be back with more questions.!
