Does anyone know of a company that sells wisteria that has already bloomed, or would guarantee it to be blooming sooner than 10-20 years? I don't have that long to wait, unfortunately, and I would really love to have wisteria that bloomed.
Mine is 2 years old. Mine has only leaves. The leaves do not even come out until everyone else's wisteria around my neighborhood has already finished blooming. Anyone know why mine is so far behind in sprouting each spring? It's the chinese wisteria, and I have no idea whether it came from a cutting or a seed. I bought it at a local Walmart gardening center.
I thought maybe I'd buy another wisteria, try to train it into a tree instead of a vine, but I have no idea how or where to buy one--I'd send away for it instead of buying locally--I just want to know that it has proven to be a bloomer or that the wait won't be 10-20 years.
Or, am I asking too much?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give this beginner!!

purchasing wisteria
If you buy a named cultivar from a nursery it'll have been grown from a cutting so it should bloom within a few years. You can't necessarily expect it to bloom in the year or two after you get it though--there's a saying "first year they sleep, second year they creep, third year they leap" so unless you know for sure that your 2 yr old one was seed grown you might give it another year. Its age may also explain why it's been a bit slow to get going in the spring compared to your neighbors' plants which are presumably older and much better established. But you might also check on the location you have it--is it getting enough sun? They need sun to bloom so if yours is in too shady of a spot that might make it not bloom as well. Also once it gets going is it nice and healthy looking or does it look like it's struggling? If it's healthy looking but just gets going a bit slow I'd chalk that up to its age, but if it doesn't look healthy then there could be something else going on.
Good advice Ecrane. Here is some additional info on Chinese wisteria cultivation.

Sherry,
I bought a Blue Moon (wisteria macrostachya) from Bloom River Gardens last year. It was planted last fall and this spring it put on four blooms. It was a 2-year-old root when I received it and was very healthy. The info on Blue Moon says it doesn't tend to spread roots that will take over your yard and it will bloom up to 4 times down here in the south so you might get at least two bloom periods. I'm training mine to a section of split rail fence and it looks real nice. It's planted out in full sun.
From Brisbane,Queensland,Australia
Hello Sherry, I am a collector of Wisteria of late. Very confused at all the names but gradually sorting it out. A friend of mine has a gorgeous display each Spring and hers gets only a bit of morning sun and is growing along a fence under gum trees. Sandy loam and survives only on rainfall, which has been in copius quantities this year. Mine will go out on to a fence in full sun and will have to rely on rainfall once established. I am looking for seed of the Japanese Black Dragon if you know anyone who has it. Quarantine will not allow a plant into this country but I think seeds are OK. Do you have the white wisteria? - very lovely.
Good luck
Since that one's a named cultivar, there's a good chance it wouldn't come true from seed. So if you find someone offering seeds from theirs you could always try them, but be aware that you may not get the look that you're hoping for. Also that type of wisteria when grown from seed can take many, many years to bloom so you may sit around waiting for 10 yrs for it to bloom and then find out it's not what you'd hoped. If I were you, I'd talk to some of your local nurseries and see if maybe they would have a source where they could order a plant for you--that way you'd get one that would bloom sooner and would be guaranteed to be the plant you want.
