And red cabbage and cauliflower, what goes in their spots? My broccoli is just beginning to head, but i don't think it will be long until harvest. I will leave them for sideshoots for a while, but what can I plant after I pull them out? Does anyone have any idea how long they will produce in NW SC? I worked hard to make the spot a happy place for veggies, and hate to waste the space when it could be doing something productive :). Is there something that could go into the spaces between them (about 28") and take over when they're gone?
After the Broccoli..
depends on what you like Cat. Southern peas are one the favorites here to follow spring brassicas. Lima's work well. Regular beans usaully can't take take the July heat here but you might be a shade cooler. Sometimes hard to start in the heat, but a good time to start winter squash/pumpkins.
Hi Farmedill, I was so hoping you'd weigh in:). Limas, winter squash and pumpkins, it is! All good fits for us. The southern peas will have a row after the sugar snaps, and I have two kinds of green beans going already.
I've been trying to calculate from the seed packages just when is best to put in my pumpkins and gourds. The last time I grew them they were ready waaaay too early for Halloween. I hope to do better this year.
Thanks, as always :)
I've just pulled out my collards and reseeded with soybeans.
