Well, been on a road trip again to rescue more plants. This time I got three different ferns, something that looks like coral bells, some red flowering plants (name unk) and some other plants that had interesting leaves, but don't know what they are. Also found a trillium that was trying to grow where they are already bulldozing, so I got it and brought it home. He pointed out here there are more trillium and says take all I want. Also the ferns. Shade garden is getting stocked up.
Marti's rescues
Good for you..can yoiu get some photos for possible ID.?
I'll work on pictures tomorrow. Been at the prowling again today. Got more elderberry plants, white and pink wild roses, and some more ferns and maybe some wild blueberry plants.
Pretty..the first looks like one of mine-call it the male fern (don't know for sure), really nice maidenhair fern..hope you scooped up all of that one.
Don't recognize the rest, but the red flower looks like something a hummingbird would enjoy. :)
There is alot more of it growing out there. I'm going back again this week to get more plants. I have to get a few at a time to give me a chance to get planted before I loose what I got. I've got til July to get all I want, so figure Ill go once or twice a week and get want I can each time.
Thanks for the information.
I was given a book called, "A Guide to the Wildflowers & Ferns of Kentucky"
I had forgotten about the book till my sister reminded me that I had it and than I dug it out of the bookcase. And guess what I found fern #1. It is called,'Sensitive Fern, Bead-Fern. It grows 1-2 feet tall and produces a stalk bearing bead-like spore=cases in midsummer that persists thru the winter. Grows in swamps, muddy depressions and seepage ares in sun or shade.
Latin name; Onoclea sensibilis.
The plant I got has the stock with bead-like spore cases on it.
