Awww, so cute Lily!!
It's a beautiful Spring day here too.
DAILY PICS - Vol. 316
That's a really cute little bird you captured there dellrose.. looks like it could be a Northern Rough-winged Swallow :)
Nice shots everyone!! Even though the threads are really moving seems everyone is having a great time with lots of bird activity and photographing. Often when I come home from work there are a dozen or more threads going and I want to check them all but as long as the weather is nice I hit the field and end up spending a couple of hours going through picture's and it gets late in the am before I hit the sack. If I haven't hit any of your threads I apologize...but Ive gone bird crazy with the spring like you all. I met a gentleman/birder yesterday that will be meeting me at Ottawa NWR for the first annual http://biggestweekinamericanbirding.com/ his name is Larry Richardson who has over 2,300 birds on his list...and does a great Screech Owl impression...he demonstrated this for me at Pipe Creek and WOW you should have seen all the song bird's that came (had my heart pounding) sorry but he is the first birder Ive ever really talked to (in person) and he gave me some tips while we talked. He told me that my (city) area does not have a lot of birder's and that Pipe Creek has much to offer and too stick with it. I will be reporting from ONWR next week and will be trying to meet Ken Kaufman. Hopefully I will have a lot of Warbler's to share with you all.
Burd
Burd, FYI. The top birder for the U.S. is a fellow named Martin Meyers with 782 species-- 2,300 species is a bit off the scale. I just checked the top 100 in Ohio and there is no Larry Richardson listed. Don't lend this guy money. :-)

2,300 is a respectable world list for someone who's travelled fairly widely (the top world birder has over 8790 species): http://www.surfbirds.com/cgi-bin/surfbirds/display.cgi?list=list1&lowVal=0&highVal=49
The 782 species is presumably North America only: http://www.surfbirds.com/cgi-bin/surfbirds/display.cgi?list=list2&lowVal=0&highVal=49

A lot of big names missing from those lists. I would imagine some aren't concerned with being on it, rather with teaching others about birds and conservation. It would have been nice to see their numbers though. :-)
Yep, they're only the ones bothered about posting their totals ;-)
Okay...lots of really cool shots!
Mrs Ed, very cool one of the pelicans!!
We have another male Baltimore Oriole coming to the feeder. It appears to be a returing one born last year maybe. He has his black but he is a paler orange than the other 2. He showed up this afternoon after it was overcast so no pics of him yet. No signs of any females yet.
One of the other male...I will be glad for some good light!

Keep it up everyone!
Have fun Burd. I thought of you at 6:30 am the other day when I was trying trying to photograph a Nashville warbler.
I'm going a bit crazy here because here at home I am HEARING a ton of birds I can't identify. If I go to look for them I can't find them. Most of the time I'm busy with work so can't go look anyway. I have an application on my iPod that has bird calls, but where to START with trying to learn them all!
Anyway, here is my bad Nashville warbler pix. I'm only putting it here because it was a new bird for me.
Congrats Marna on your Nashville Warbler. Burn, all of mine Sparrows have reached your region! I missed them. I've got the Song Sparrow, and the White Throated Sparrow. Though, have never seen a White Crown Sparrow before. Marna, as far as recognizing birds' song. The House Sparrow's is one I can pick up faster than any other. Go figure!
Nice pics nanny!
Congrats Mrs Ed!
Burn, Beautiful shot of the White-crowned Sparrow and others!
Nice shots gang!!

Well to give this gentleman his do...he mentioned he has been to other countries, he gave me his card which I looked up on the net and here's the link http://www.natctr.org/index.php?id=4 he also mentioned he was a former President of the Great Lakes Science Center for 21 years...and also was a former president of Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge in which Kim Kaufman is the current president...Ken Kaufman's wife. Anyways he will not get any dough lol I could hardly spit out my 150+ bird-list after he mentioned 2,300...lol
Hi Everyone...I have started a new thread and here is a link http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1095281/#new . Please join us there!!
