Hi Cairncrazy, Welcome to DG and the Bird Watching Forum!!

Wonderful pics you have posted! Hope to see more from you soon!

I am suffering from empty nest syndrome. The baby BB fledged while I was at work. I only get glimpses of them far up in the tree tops by watching where mamma and pappa go with the worms. I can't wait till they learn to come to the feeder. Pappa getting worms.

Aww Thats a shame you weren't there when they fledged but at least they are all doing well! Wonderful pics!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Ooh Frank, it's a bummer to be away while the youngins' fledged. But what a joy it's to see them doing well like Pelle has said. Papa and Mama Blues did a great job! Raised 'em kids right so they go and spread their wings!

Golden-fronted Woodpecker, I believe. I think their nest is in a tree to the right of that one. And they get nervous when I hang around at the back of my shed over there for a while.

And I stopped by this place to see if birds were nesting. Cave Swallows, I believe.

And under the eaves of another building, a Barn Swallow with chicks...I think.

Frank those a really great shots of the BB. I like the amount of worms Mama was able to pack in her beak.
Cairncrazy, welcome to the bird forum. thanks for sharing with us. Looking forward to more of your pics. Great shot of the Goldfinch and hummer.
Duc so glad you were able to get a shot of the Acorn WP. I'd love to have a Tree Swallow pose like that for me.
Lily, your so fortunate to have so many birds nest in your yard, glad to see how much your enjoying them.
Red,I do agree we have to stop and appreciate what beauty we have around us. That Goose with her baby,is precious.
Burd, nice find, on that Flicker's nest. neat that it so close and you'll be able to follow the progress at the nest.

I didn't confirm, what kind of Hawk I got, on the ID forum. He posed so well on that branch, couldn't wait to share with you guys.

Probably Broad-winged Hawk, but on this pic, can't be 100% sure, with Red-shouldered Hawk also possible.

Linda, Great job with the pics of your Woodpecker and 2 types of Swallows! love the one with the chicks!

Burn, Beautiful shot of the hawk! Love your pic of the Mallards!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

I like your Mallards' pix very much, Burn. Cc, welcome to our thread and DG. LindaTX8, love the pix of your Barn Swallow with chicks. Wow, Cave Swallow, that's new to me as well.

It's a wonder to watch birds' behavior. I watch this male Northern Cardinal calling/warning other birds when it spotted my neighbor's dog sniffs for the scence at the bird feeder that I inadvertingling hung low above the ground. I may have to move the feeder higher for the birds' comfort level.

Went out tonight to practice with the big lens tonight, as I saw a Nashville warbler earlier this morning but I was not able to capture a pix too well. Tonight was more light and I got this Bluejay. Just seemed to be hanging out

So this a.m. while I was sitting there in my jammies, I saw a formation of planes flying overhead. They were the most quiet I had ever seen (or would that be "heard", so I put my camera on them. As they came closer I snapped a few shots.

Well I'll be. not planes at all!

How cool is that Marna! Is it common for you to see those Pelicans? Or are they on their migrating journey?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

This poor Pine Siskin's top beak is broken off. My feeder has sunflower hearts in it so he doesn't have to crack a shell. He was there acting like he was eating. I'm not sure of his chances for survival. I hope he makes it.

Pretty Cardinal Lily!

Marna, I love those Pelicans!! Nice Blue Jay too.

Ohh, Missy, That was a tough one to look at but I'm glad she is eating and hope she continues to do well.

Those pelicans are migrating through, though they've been here for a while. I see them in the spring and then in late August. They are HUGE. You don't really realize it until you are right under one.

Norman, OK

Our BB's fledged yesterday. I had a friend over and he wanted to see them, so I put out some worms and called for Daddy. It took longer than normal for him to come. He gathered up his normal mouthful of worms, but instead of flying to the box (one of the babies was peeking out), he flew to the creek about 50 yards away. This was a clue that some of the babies had fledged. We got to see the last 3 come out. I couldn't get good pics, they are way to high in some pecan trees with lots of foliage, but they should be safe there. One of the babies just prior to flying out.

Same baby landed on the roof, then responded to Mama's call and flew to the creek.

Thanks Marna for the reply. TBM, well wish for the Pine Siskin. Pretty M. Dove Pelle.

Awww, Red. Look at that Chubby tail on the baby, and the innocent face of the youngster looking through the nest. Precious!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Hah, the Cardinals have paired up. The couple just came to the feeder. She sat there looking pretty, waiting for him to bring her breakfast. ^_^

Here's my most recent birdie pic.. We have a nest on our back porch created and inhabited by some Carolina Wrens. The babies hatched about a Week and a half ago. This picture was taken when they were right at about a Week old.

Their adorable ST!!

Red, Congrats on the fledges!

Lily, Not long before Cardinal babies!

This thread started off with a bang and hasnt' quit...great shots here! Thanks for starting it Linth with your awesome images.

Can't comment on everyone but had to congratulate Frank and Red on the successful fledging of the Bluebirds. I'm sure you both will have more this year and best of luck on all of them! Our babies are now coming to the worm feeder and you will be seeing yours again real soon.

Here is a Northern Rough-winged Swallow taken at a local park. They don't have the long tail feathers like the other Swallows but they are just the cutest little birds.

Thanks Pelle...I just fell in love with this little bird...they seemed very friendly and were quite entertaining. I had seen them the last time I went to town and took my camera yesterday just in case they returned. I parked in the same spot and so did they...I was so happy!
