I have a question. This is my first year growing potatoes in containers . I have mine a 18 gallon storage tub. I planted about 10 in each! I hope thats not to many ooopppps..... well I have about 4 so far with green leaves coming up about 1-2 inches!!! yeehaaa...do I have to mound more soil on them what do i do? HELP!!!
Help with Potatoes in containers!!
Found this info for ya...
Sprouts should have been spaced approximately 6 inches apart, and at least 4 inches away from the sides
When the plants reach about 6 inches in height, add another two or three inches of potting mix, covering the lower leaves of the plants. Every time the plants reach a height of six inches above the soil, add another two to three inches of soil. When the soil reaches about 1 to 2 inches from the top of the container, you can stop adding soil, but mound the soil up around the base of each plant.
Yikes I guess I put to many in the container!!! typical!!! okay so I have to add soil to sides of plants? Thats not going to to be easy, but we will try! Thnks
