WHAT IS IN FULL COLOR NOW-MAY 1-15

Thank you, Willow! I am so sorry I missed your party and garden tour.

Beahive, which wisteria is that? It's absolutely divine!!

Kayte, I'll take a photo of the berm area. I planned to put a small lotus in the pot Kathy is referring to, if it ever gets warm enough for it to do anything.

Here's a combination I am liking this year. These are the heucheras I was talking about on another thread, I think. The mother plant came up as a volunteer, planted by the fairies. Apparently they are a Villosa type because they are very large. They are decidedly brownish in color and I just love them! They go nicely with the Exbury azalea, the dwarf barberry, and the geum sp? .

Pixy..I have no idea of the variety of my wisteria. I would be happy to send you cuttings if you want.

BeaHive - I love that pink and yellow columbine!! My winky is blooming right now too...

Primula polyantha 'Victoriana Silver Laced Black' - This little guy took a beating from the weather but he's still cute..... His brother who is just a few feet away hardly bloomed at all this year... I think it's in a micro-rainshadow...

OMG, that's the cutest little plant! The goth in me loves black flowers. ;)

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Pixy - some Uncinia would lookk great with your brown/russet/gold combo - very nice.
I have Geum Mango Lassie paired with Carex Flagilifera & Heuchera Tiramisu. I think I will check out your Heuch, Pixy - would do well with what I have going.

Oh by the way - Patty the NOT purple poppy came back to haunt me via the base of a Lavatera. Why do plants grow right next to another plant's root system - did she think she was being sneaky? Like I wouldn't see her?

HAHA! Kayte,, everything wants to live..... Even Patty's Plum! It's more of a mauve, isn't it? I have some out front and I really like them. But they do have to be placed just right with that color.
Uncinia would look great with the heuchera. I have some New Zealand pheasant grass that is just to the left of them and is starting to come out. It does that whole bronzy thing, too. I don't know why, but I love that color.

Beahive, thank you very much for the offer of cuttings, but I have no place for a wisteria right now. That is really the most lovely bloom, though. Is it actually bicolored like it looks in the photo?

Pony, I have some things for you. Sharon and Lynn dropped them off at my place today. I also have some of that Black Lace primula if you are interested.

So here is a photo of the berm area, taken today. I do want to have a lotus in that pot. I hope it gets a little warmer soon.

Here is a view from the other side. I will have to do some editing as things get larger. The variegated laurel is actually growing almost as fast as regular laurels. I thought it was a slower grower. It will likely have to be moved next fall. We're still filling in with good soil, a truckload at a time. So I still also have to move heucheras and hostas to the front edge. I need a good long day to do that.

This is the Yaku Princess rhody in bloom on the far left of the berm.

One of my favorite pot combinations this year. It's that hardy bromeliad called 'Queen's Tears'. The purple is one I grew from seed this year, Nemesia fruticans, and there is a begonia that will bring color later. I think it's white, but I cannot remember.

Blooming on the berm: Disporum flavum.

Ooh. Thank you. I would love to have a wee bit of that primula if you have it to spare. When would be the best day/time for me to come by? My schedule is wide open.

Okay, last but not least this tiny arisarum called 'mouse plant'. (Arisarum proboscideum) It's a groundcover for the fairies. Or for people who like to lie down on their stomachs to see the garden. Very tiny.

Pony, I will be gone all day tomorrow, but your stuff is by the front gate, next to the green garbage can. You can't miss it. I'll put some of the primula with it before I leave tomorrow and you can grab it at your leisure.

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Okay- thank you very much. :)

Always a pleasure to share plants!

Pixie do you keep your 'Queen of Tears" outside year round? I have mine as a houseplant and it is getting huge. Would like to put it out. In shade?

Village of Port Clem, Canada

It's always a relief to set "houseplants" free and get them outside. I admit to setting quite a few free, and just not bringing them back in. It seems the older I get, the less inside plants I want to bother with.
I live to buy a potted Mum or something and enjoy it for awhile then put it out. It lives or not.

I am surprised how much further ahead your gardens are than mine. We need a shot of heat. My lilac are not even thinking of blooming. But the Rhodo's are gorgeous.

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

That makes me laugh. I have set my houseplants out and hoped they would die a silent death. I set a bunch out and bring them back in too. Christmas cactus go out, a huge begonia, an asparagus fern and a flowering maple that I like. I'm going to be 72 this fall and I am cutting back on junk and plants.

Picked up the plants- thank you to everyone who sent stuff, dropped stuff off, babysat etc. etc... hehe. :)

About the unmarked ones- one looks like lunaria annua, but what's the wee baby one in the square pot? Is that Primula?

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I did big a few gold lace polyanthus - that may be what it is.

Oh. That's a Hellebore seedling. A NOID Helleborus Orientalis from this guy:

Ooh- that's pretty. Thanks- I'll do my best not to kill the little fella... They don't like full sun, right?

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Right - shade or part shade. They're a woodland plant. If it dies, let me know and I'll get you another!

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Cool. Thanks! I'll keep him on the porch next to my hosta. :)

(Sharon)SouthPrairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Pony, the sun face was a gift from Summer to you, in case that bit of information got lost in the shuffle and the pot that looks like just dirt is hiding a dahlia.

Village of Port Clem, Canada

Wow Katie your Hellebore Noid is fabulous. How old is that plant? It looks pretty well established.

A question for all......... should I be feeding my Heucheras? The native ones are thriving just as they are, but the ones I set out last fall are not looking so vigorous. Same environment & soil. anyone?

Whoops turn your head sideways!

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

What a beautiful rhodie. I don't fertilize my hellebores but I do lime them in the spring. They will probably be perky by fall.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Enyeholt - I'm going to say that the Hellebore was in a gallon pot when I bought it. I planted it about 5 years ago - it does seem to like that spot, judging from the seedlings.

Redmond, WA

I'm being careful not to weed too much (it's sooo hard - NOT) around my established hellebore in case it decides to give forth...

This was taken yesterday evening. The ajuga used to be in front of the hellebore... but the mass of it is migrating every year... and everything that gets thinned or tries to grow on the side walk gets a one-way ticket to the nether regions of the yard on Transplant Express, no weeds in the luggage, please, I don't care if you are called bugleweed, you're above that now... worms are ok though...

I love ajuga, especially this time a year....

Another view.. There is a strange plant growing just directly behind the azalea... I'm not sure if I planted it last year or if it's a weed.... That happens to you guys all the time, right? ;)
