I need advice on wether to ditch my black walnut tree or not. I planted it about 8 years ago and it is about 15 feet tall now. I have been debating for 3 or 4 years now wether or not to ditch it, because I've heard that the leaves and/or roots can kill other plants. It's about 15-20 feet from a fig and pear tree that I have.
Need advice on black walnut tree
Here's a article that may help you decide what to do. There are plants that will survive under a Walnut tree. http://grovelandscaping.com/archive/what-will-grow-under-my-walnut-tree/
The article states that even if you cut the tree down Juglone will be present for several years in the soil.
Thanks.
