I just bought 4 new Hibiscus plants. All are about 6 in. except my Valentine Day one which is about 5 in. It's been a week now and all are doing well except the Valentine Day one.
It is completely wilted.
When I got it I watered it like all of them. Is this just stess from mailing? Will it come back and what do I do if anything different?
New Hibiscus plant wilted
Can you post a picture? Wilting can be from too much water or too little water or stress from mailing or from being transplanted (if you repotted it or planted it in the garden when you got it). I'd check the moisture level by sticking your finger down a few inches into the soil--if it's bone dry then it needs a good watering, but if it's sopping wet then it's probably been overwatered. Hibiscus don't like wet feet, but they do best if you don't let them completely dry out either. If the moisture level seems OK, I'd keep it somewhere out of direct sun for while and see if it perks up. Also check to make sure that the stem isn't bent/broken near the base--that is something that can happen if plants aren't packed well for shipping and depending on how big the plant is sometimes it's hard to notice.
Thank you for your reply. I hadn't repotted it but did water it. I'm growing them indoors. It completely went dead. I emailed the buyer and he is so nice he's sending me another one free.
I'm sure it was from the stress of mailing.
