munching on articoke

I have planted 2 artichoke plants. something is eating them i have looked for worms and slugs no signs so i put bait out anyway. no help i sprayed with a soap and water mixture no luck, I went to home depot they suggested a product called seven i sprayed roots ground and leaves it still is being eaten! Help please
