What do you think about muehlenbeckia (creeping wire vine, maidenhair ) to replace grass? Any idea about 'why you shouldn't' as opposed to 'good idea' -I cannot grow grass on one side of the house -- just can't do it. and I want to cover up the bare dirt and this little fella(gal) looks like it might work. Some info suggests full sun but others say can take shade -- shade isn't the issue but it is awfully dry where I have in mind to get it started.

Also it will tolerate a good shearing to rejuvinate - -- Do you think a mower will work for this? The walkway that I have in mind is not located anywhere that I would be concerned about it getting out of control -- it runs parallel to the woods.

Thoughts?

i really like perennial peanut. it's tough, long blooming and evergreen.

I will check it out to see how it does here. I have to also deal with the deer and if it is edible - it might not work.

i think it's hardy to zone 8

Thanks so much - I will check it out and be ready for fall planting. This is the year for those spots - all I have are sporadic tufts of grass now. It was 91 here yesterday and even if the freshly planted would survive the summer -- I fear I would not survive the planting.

we have only found it in containers here, no sod-like sheets, but are using it in a few areas.

It is very pretty.

I confused what you were saying I thought you meant it was hardy UP to zone 8B as opposed to 8B and up. We are in 7B but parts of the property seem to be more 7A. So maybe the peanut won't work ;0( Which explains why I haven't seen it used.
