Oklahoma clay!

Oologah, OK

anyone out there from OK ? I am near Collinsville, tried Aborviteas - lost 8 of them- trying to plant some kind of windbreak, and privacy hedge on 1 acre lot . the property line on north side doesnt drain well. while we know we need to improve the drainage of the lot entirely, wondering if anyone has had good luck with any fast growing shrubs/hedges that might work? we also have several poplar trees to east line in back, but 4 or 5 of smaller ones have died as well. these were already there when we purchased the property. I need to fill in the spaces there too, with more poplar trees I guess to make it look right, but dont know which kind of poplars they are...? This land is either poor draining, or you hit rock it seems, but I do see other lots with trees and evergreens around.

You are very welcome Shubbard. I hope those help solve your problem. Sounds like you have a bit of work ahead correcting drainage and amending soil.Good luck with your projects.....be sure to show us some pictures of your progress. Moon
