Oh I just missed an incredible opportunity. I was done shooting photos for the day so I just went back out on the porch, (without the camera card) and sat down in front of the camera. All of a sudden a Red-tailed Hawk comes barreling into the yard just 15 feet in front of me and nails a squirrel !!! I must have made a move and it scared the hawk off without the squirrel. Darn!!!
The squirrels was completely in shock and just sat there not moving. I saw the hawk was still hovering close by so I started to go slowly toward the squirrel. His left front paw was injured and he was really stunned. At first he was just slowly moving in circles but as I got closer he started to move away at a slow pace, I just wanted to get him near cover so the hawk wouldn't come back and get him right away. But wow what an incredible sight it was that unfolded right in front of me, the power and beauty of the hawk was amazing!! I'm so glad I at least witnessed it.
