I planted 4 royal empress trees 3 years ago and cannot get these supposed giants to grow.I've called back the company where I bought them and they tell me every spring to cut them down to start over, they do and 2 of them were over 10' by the end of last summer. But nothing is budding again. Anybody have any experience with these??
Royal empress trees
Maybe it's a good thing as the royal empress tree is considered to be an invasive weedy tree in many areas including New York....

sent you dmail. mine forms its buds in the winter time.
What zone are you in? Much of NY is cold enough (zone 5/6) that they're likely to die back every winter which will prevent them from ever becoming a tree.
if you cut it down each year you are cutting of the blooms as they form during winter.
