It has been three years that I bought a beautiful peonia plant. For three years in a row, the plant never had a bud. This year, I am so happy because I see at least nine to twelve buds, but all the buds are full of ants. I need an advice how to get rid of the ants, or I want to know if those ants would not damage the bud to open to a beautiful flower. Thanks in advance for a good advice. Blessings to whoever answer and read this question.
I need help with my peonia plant
There is absolutely no reason to get rid of the ants - they do no harm to peonies, and are only collecting the sticky excretions from the peony buds. They are also not necessary for the buds to bloom either - that's an old wive's tale.
altagardner is correct. The problem I always had was the flowers were too heavy for the plant. The whole thing would flop over.Cages were the answer for that.Edge
