Evergreen privacy fence ideas, medium shade...

Decatur, GA

I have a home in Atlanta and I have a 2 story condo building behind my house (condos are on a slight hill so they are a little taller than 2 stories) and would love to not see the building at all. I have some overhanging trees along my fenceline (those trees are on the condo side of my fence) and the area does not get a ton of sun. What I'd like to have would be a tall evergreen privacy line that's relatively fast growing and can essentially create a hedge. I have looked at the Thuja (Green Giant) since it's such a fast grower but it might grow a little too tall and run into the canopy of branches above it (15-20 ft high maybe), I also saw the Holmstrup Arborvitae that grows to around 8 feet but it might be just a little too short. any suggestions?

So basically I'm looking for suggestions to fit this mold:
- grows in zone 7 (7b)
- creates privacy
- grows in medium shade / shade tolerant
- moderate / fast grower (fast preferred)
- reaches height of about 12 feet preferred

I truly appreciate your comments and suggestions, please let me know if there's any info I left out that you may need to reply.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I don't have a photo but if you really need to see one I can get one.

My favorite choice for the setting you've described is Chindo Viburnum. It grows 15 to 20' tall and 5-6' wide, it's fast growing even in shade and you can plant them fairly close together without them killing each other. They should be fairly easy to find in your area.

There are also several types of English Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus) that would work.

I agree - I have three to block out some visual things and the shrubs grew fast. After the winter ...there is some brown/yellow leaves to deal with that are quickly replaced by healthy green leaves. I just fertilize every six months with an evergreen plant fertilizer 'spike' - no problems and these three are competing with the roots from tulips, oak and maple in a wooded area.
