Here's another one that came with him.

This Bullock's (I think) Oriole was pulling the strings off of my Red Yucca plants-probably for a nest.

Finally decided on one particular string.

Found a Song Sparrow that was singing his heart out. I got this look when I tried to walk closer.

LOL, love the disgusted look on the Song Sparrows face. Your Goldfinch look beautiful in the sun! Glad to see your Orioles are busy making nests; do you know where they normally have their nests?
Great shots duc!!

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Thanks Pelle, no, we have so many trees below our house that it's nearly impossible to find any oriole nests.

Irvine, KY(Zone 6a)

Song sparrows do have expressive faces, don't they? This picture from a few months ago reminds me of the "mad" bluebird.

Haha, that does remind you of the Mad Bluebird!

Great pics so far. I went to the zoo this morning and got some what I hope are nice pics. African and Australian birds, parrots, Hawks, Eagles etc. I even got a first for me....a Carolina Wren. Free-flying, just happened to see my first one at the zoo. What a pretty song they have. I'll be uploading them later on.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Those Song Sparrows do indeed have a very expressive look about them. lol. Gardenpom, I'm looking forward to see your new pics. Not much going on as far as birding around here. I'm pleased to see these residents birds grace my morning. Here is Mizzy the female Northern Cardinal.

Mizzy just came by to check out the spot since Lizzy, sweet Eastern Phoebe frequently perches out here. She would like to find out whaz waz goin' on;

Uh oh...Lily is naming all her birds now! LOL

I was walking the other day and had never realized HOW MANY Song Sparrows are around. They just seemed to be evrywhere and all so busy singing their pretty song.

I found one that just didn't even seem to realize I was standing there watching it!

It was very busy checking out the dandelion seeds.

I was so thrilled since I usually find them in impossible light situations!

Nice pics Lily and Nanny! Don't you just love it when they act like that nanny?

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

LOL, Nan. Just a few that I can give them names. Others I'm absolutely clueless. Like this one. Other than a boy, I don't know what to call it. Since they all look alike. lol. Male House Finch discovered the new sunflower seeds feeder in the front.

Oh I sure do pelle...I love seeing them just doing what they do!

That's okay Lily we all do it....I mentioned the House Wren down the street is back. Well I named her Nettie in 2007 and whether it is the same actual bird or not the House Wren there is 'Nettie"!

I got a pic of her today peeking out!

She was very busy bringing in nest material.

Thumbnail by nanny_56
Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

AS you can tell in this photo, the twig this time was a little long and it took her 3 attempts to finally get it thru the opening! lol

Thumbnail by nanny_56
Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

That's Nettie! I wonder if she remembers me......

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Cute, cute Wren. And a hard worker she's. lol. Thanks Nan for sharing her pics. On my way home I spotted a pair of Canadian Geese with their youngs. I hurried up home and returned the area with the camera and the 'family' was no where in sight. So just these friends that stay close by.

eerrrr, Nanny, I think that Nettie might be Neddy instead.

According to the Cornell site,
"Male House Wrens start building several nests at once in hopes of persuading a female to mate with him."

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Oh dear.....well allll righty...nope it is Nettie no matter what....LOL!

I should look those things up I guess...

Marlton, NJ

Oh I like that arrangement! Great pics guys!!

Here's that Wren. I assume it is a Carolina Wren, but never having see one before, please correct me if I am wrong.

Wonderful pics red!
The Goldfinch and female Bluebird look great! I love the Chipping Sparrow and wish we saw them more often here.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Sunfarm, that's the look! Cute.
GP, congrats on your first sighting of the wren. Love that open mouth picture!
Lily, that one tree branch sure attracts cute birds for you.
Nanny, your Song Sparrow looks good. At least he didn't give you "the look". Great pics. Nettie or Neddy (LOL) is adorable.
Red, great shots of mama and the goldfinch. I'd love to see that Chipping Sparrow here too.

Here's some more photos from last weekend's heron rookery.

Great capture of the Goldfinch in breeding plumage, Red. I need to be on foot, and not having my gardener-helpers strolling along with me to find more of the sparrows.

I just spotted Mizzy my beautiful female Northern Cardinal with her new find for nesting materials. I can't tell for sure. But I think the mischievious Mizzy picked on my Clematis for her nesting materials! How dare she? LOL.

Duc, Great shots! I love that first one of the Great Blue Heron, it looks like he is hopping. The Hooded Oriole is gorgeous.

Sweet Mizzy Lily!

Great job all,I'm always to behind now to be able to comment on some of your pictures, but do enjoy looking at them.

I saw my first Tree Swallow of the season this morning, it was on one of my birdhouse, wasn't fast enough to get a picture. But I will soon.
