How long for potatoes to sprout?

Potatoes are slow to come up, especially if the soil temp is cool. Mine started coming up in about 3 weeks and still had a few missing hills to come up a couple of weeks later. If they have been planted for a good while, dig one up to make sure they aren't rotten. If it is sound, forget them.
