Awful Bird Pics Vol.14

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Absolutely gorgeous Elphaba. I always love Blue Bonets. But in the mix with others -- they're even more beautiful!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Just lovely, Elphaba!

When I watched the Today Show this morning and saw the destruction the Tornados left, I felt so sorry for the people who'd lost their homes and lives, especially the children. One was only 3 months old. How do you start cleaning up after a disaster like that and muster enough strength to begin building your life and home again?

Lily_Love, just look at the pretty reflections on the water from the necks of your Geese :)

The Sunflower field was before I had a digital camera. I'll go through my albums and see if I can find the photos and take a pic of a pic. It'll probably turn out awful though...lol

Pix likes this taught me to respect those that can capture Chickadees in motion.

Really great bad shots everyone, loved em!

You would think those birds would just sit still for a few seconds until we get that perfect shot wouldn't you???

Good ones Margaret and Lily!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Your Raven looks like another angel. Send me some Towhees!

Logan Lake, BC(Zone 3a)

FOTV the Towhee showed up a couple of weeks ago, stayed a couple of days then left, came back again yesterday, guess it liked the food;~) I hadn't seen a Towhee around here in a long time so I was very happy to see him/her!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Burd...such nice pretty pink feet tho!

Nice...er bad ones mcash!

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

Burd, keep that house finch pic for Halloween! Definitely an exorcist shot.

Great bad ones Lily and mcash! I wish some of mine were that good.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

What a great idea, Elphaba!

We've been hearing turkeys calling in our woods for at least a week. This is the best I could do with a Hen I spotted today about a football field away from the lens.

Maybe this belongs on the Bird ID thread, but the picture is so bad I am embarrassed to post it there. The song was like a "wolf whistle" with an extra "tuk" at the end. Any ideas? It was bigger than a warbler--vireo, maybe?

That is really neat FOV! I would love to have that nearby.

Sun, Have you checked listening to calls of Warblers at the Cornell site? Lets see if any of our Warbler people can give you some help.

Irvine, KY(Zone 6a)

It looked a bit too big to be a warbler, but I will take your suggestion to check it out.

Marlton, NJ

Miss!

Probably a vireo, but too blurred to be sure!

The focus is way off, but I thought the mourning dove sitting on the metal bird yard ornament was worth sharing.

LOL, Definitely worth sharing! Thanks sun!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

That's way too cute; dove taking a ride. lol.

North Augusta, ON

I love this thread!
I'm getting brave enough to admit to more bad photos than good ones lately.

I tried with this one...bird was too well camoflaged!!

LOL 3g's. Is the fairly large dark thing in the middle behind the branches your bird?

North Augusta, ON

yup...LOL!!

Turkey hen (are female turkeys hens?). You'd think it would be easy with such a big bird...but she was goooood!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

I was so thrilled to find this Belted Kingfisher the other day, but the pix was so bad I didn't have the heart to post it on our daily thread. So it's deemed that it's worthwhile posting here. lol.

Welcome back 3gs. Glad to see your posting.
