Hindu/Indian Rope Plant...

Spring, TX

I purchased an Indian Rope/Hindu Plant after searching for over 25 years for this plant. Have had it in Monrovia, Ca. for a year where it was doing great. Then we moved to The Woodlands, Texas last month and now the plant is not doing well. Some of the leaves have begun to turn from dark green to a light yellow. I know the plant is not doing well. What is happening? Is it the move , the change in sunlight or is it the change of humidity? I don't know what to do. Any suggestions? I have looked for this plant for a long time, to lose it now would be a shame. Can someone tell me what to do? Thank you.

A picture would help if you can post one. Also, can you say a little more about the traveling conditions it experienced on the way from CA to TX, and also what the differences are in the conditions you have it in now? The trip could have stressed it, or if you've got it in much warmer/colder or lighter/darker conditions than it was in before the move that could do it too. (chances are it'll recover, but the good news is if it doesn't make it, unless you have some really rare cultivar of it, it's not really that uncommon of a plant so I'm sure someone here could help you track one down within a few weeks)

Logee's Greenhouse carries this plant. They also have the variegated variety if you ask. And I even bought one in my grocery store last year! But even I was surprised to find it in the grocery store-LOL!

To me, that actually looks like the variegated version of the plant. I have a regular one too. Hmmm... Strange! I'm no help- I have no clue what's going on!

Maybe it was a change in the minerals in the water. Maybe try using distilled water for a bit. They don't like wet feet either. Sounds like you may be overwatering a bit. I killed a couple before I realized they like to be on the drier side of moist.

I was reading on this type of Hoya just today, and my source says that this species is prone to leaf scorch. In severe cases it can cause white "scars" on the leaves. They lose the green, turn to yellow, and then begin to get the white spots. I don't know if this applies to yours, but I am sure you will be able to tell what, if anything is wrong. Good luck.
