As I do every spring, I've just lopped the suckers from the branches of my ancient pear tree. I love the tree, it bears wonderful pears, and heavily, and I wondered whether I could use its suckers as cuttings with which to start seedling trees. If the answer is yes, I'd really appreciate help in the how-to of doing it! If the answer is no as to using suckers, how do I take a cutting, and when should it be done?

Thanks, themoonhowl--I've just visited the sites you sent, and will try Anne's advice from news14garden.
You are very welcome. Good luck, I hope your cuttings do well.
