I have several beds of zinnias, in one several plants just wither and die, the stems look black but the roots look good ? Also have a bug prblem , are they "good food" for any certain bug , sprayed Spectracide 3 in 1 disease control . Plants are from 5 to 9 inches up.
Any ideas ?
wilting zinnias
Zinnia like it dry could it be that you are overwatering or that the plants are too close? I think maybe spider mites or aphids might bother zinnia - but I don't think it could kill the plant. Zinna=warriors You could try planting marigolds around - sort of a repellent.
If your bug problem was thrips, your zinnias could have Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus.

I should have clarified - in the home garden zinna generally aren't bothered by much. Mass producing/production nurseries you might have several disease/organisms that can devastate most plantings. in.
If it is one bed - just make sure the watering conditions are the same as the other beds and not holding water differently. Even if you are giving the same water - drainage rates can differ and the sun may dry more quickly in different exposures.
