Pelle, all the while he/she seemed to have kept eye-contact with you, the photographer. lol.

Your absolutely right Lily. It was really funny, like we were playing a game. :-)

They're so adorable. I just wanted to reach out and hug 'em. lol. Thanks for sharing. Late this evening, I saw my Carolina Wren returned to the Gourd nest. Wish me well, I'm about to be a grandmimaw too. lol.

Marlton, NJ

Congratulations! I love Carolina Wrens, another happy, social little bird.

g'night Pelle, I'll try to get some pix of the Dees and Wrens tomorrow to share. It sure has been a beautiful day.

Nice pics, Pelle. He is certainly unsure about you or the camera, but hopefully they will get used to it.

PERTH, Australia

Lovely shots, Pelle.

Thank you.

GP, I think it's just the camera they are leery of because when I'm standing at the apple tree they seem to have no problem coming within inches of me. I did turn off the focus "beep" sound on the camera late yesterday, we'll see if that helps.

Oh No! The House Wrens have arrived in the yard. I saw one right near the Chickadee nest box so (in my pj's) using my walker I made it out to where he was and started shaking my walker in his direction, followed him to the apple tree and made sure he was unwelcome. He went over to the slot box (nest box) and is making a lot of noise. I sure hope they stay away from the Chickadee nest.

I'm sorry the wrens have arrived. I'm sorry this is so cruel, but I can't help laughing at the thought of you rushing out with that walker and scaring them off. Forgive me, my friend, but I know you were upset and it really wouldn't be funny if you had fallen. Please be careful. I know you mean well and want to protect your birds, but it's not worth injuring that hip again.

Your pictures are just beautiful.

Thank you Duc! Yes I know if any of my neighbors saw me it would have been quite a sight seeing that they wouldn't have been able to see the wren. It probably looked like I was yelling and waving my walker at the fence and the apple tree. :-)))

Well Momma Chickadee must have been in the box this whole time because she just came out for a few minutes to spend time with Daddy and get a little to eat and drink. I could see she was hot because she was holding her wings away from her body. It was already too warm before 9 am and now it's a lot worse. Supposed to hit 90 today, way too hot for this time of year.

Here is Mama taking a break from nest duties.

LOL oh yes nanny! Probably just as good as the other week when I was shaking my walker at the Arbor where the House Sparrows were. What is it I have against my yard, lol.

Here is a collage of Mama doing some personal grooming in the apple tree.

In 3 of these you can see she has what looks like a little tiny worm or cat in her beak.

I wish this one could have turned out better but here she is on her return to the nest.

She actually flew right away from here when a Grackle put out an alarm call for a Hawk. Two Red-tailed were flying nearby.

Pelle, wow, smart bird. I heard a Blue Jay calling frantically the other day. Then I look up searching for its location then I saw a hawk hovering over the top.

Well we just had a big fight here. Apparently the House Wren came too close to the chickadee box and Mama came tearing out and went right after the House Wren. She got in some good hits for the first few seconds then she chased the wren away. I went fairly close to the box to make sure no other House Wren would go inside while this was happening. I stayed there till she got back.
Geez I don't like all this drama.

She's beautiful. Hope all goes well, but I know what you mean. I was a nervous wreck worrying about those baby Mockingbirds, especially while they were in my yard. I don't think I could deal with a nest box in my yard.

Here is Dad Dee yesterday bringing a little Caterpillar for Mom. She had already left the box and was in the nearby apple tree.

Beautiful shots Pelle!! "Drama" is part of most all birders lives, at least those that care. It sure does add stress to our lives though.
