Salvia coccinea seeds

Wheaton, IL(Zone 5b)

Has anyone had success with Salvia coccinea seeds? I tried sowing them in cells on a heat mat and nothing germinated after 4 weeks. I tried putting some seed on a moist paper towel in a plastic bag, keeping on the heat at night and under the lights during the day, and this has not worked either. Any advice is appreciated.

Mine self-seed in the garden here, so I have not started them in the green house. Here is some info on starting them.I hope this is of use to you.

This site suggests under propagation that some seeds may require "help" in germinating such as scarifying or winterization.

And this is a link to a previous question about starting salvia coccinea here on DG

Thank you also for the link to the seed starting forum. I did not know this existed. I'll be checking this often!
