Great shots Burd! Congratulations on all the new birds! Love the Black-throated Blue Warbler, Sora, Bank Swallow and Orchard Oriole.
Have a great time on your trip, I'll be looking forward to hearing all about it and seeing your photos!
Pipe Creek Wildlife Area part 2
Thanks Pelle, I have to work today but i,m off the rest of the week...the weather is going to be a problem..rain all week.
Beautiful photos!! I just love that Orchard Oriole and that gorgeous Blue Warbler-wow!
That first shot of the B-t BW was the best shot of him..I nearly fainted when I opened the image and got errors/artifacts on the photo but it stopped right at the feet and I quickly cropped and saved.. whew lol.
Good shots, Burd. Those two pix of the Orchard Oriole are stunning.
Thanks Margaret! The 2nd Orchard shot will be going on my wall someday.
Burd, I read what you wrote on another thread about your UV filter. Interesting stuff.
Yeah, lol after I started taking shots I was looking at them...it was like someone gave me a new lens. lol
Even with the 1.4 converter shots were fairly clear.

That's so good. Now you'll really start to enjoy it. Maybe post the name of the filter on the "What camera do you use" thread so we can all be aware when we're buying.
Good idea! I will do that.
Hit Pipe Creek today to see what's going on...well the water is up some, so the mud-flats are currently under water so not too many shore-birds other than a flock of Lesser Yellowlegs..but I did take a few shots will add more later on.
Small set of a Turkey Vulture working on a dried out groundhog carcass.
WOW, Burd !!! You must be panting !!! Just think if you had eyes in back of your head. I don't think I would have the stamina to keep up with you. Really nice shots. Enjoy your trip to Ottawa. It's a little too far for me, about 7+ hours.
Yes I am indulging Linth. lol Spring has always been my favorite time of year and since I started birding it is even more exciting...and you get to take it home with you. ;)
Wonderful shots Burd! Have a great trip!
These shots are not from Pipe Creek but I wanted to use up this thread and had to many pictures to post for the Daily.
This place is called Coho Dam. The dam was removed about 10 years ago and its back to its natural state of just being a river again. I have come to this place for a long time as a fisherman but the last couple of years for birding. I can tell you today this place is holding some Warbler's as I heard quite a few different song's but it is very over grown and you must have repellent as the insects can be quite a pain... deer fly's, mosquito's etc. Myself I wade threw the river which is not very deep and its crystal clear and can keep you cool on a hot day.
I was able to get one new bird and my first shots of the Pileated Woodpecker along with some Bald Eagle shots. I had the ISO up a lil too high and some of the shots are not that great.
First up is my new bird...Great Crested Flycatcher...I still have the loud calls in my head from these bird's lol.
