Wonderful shots Burd!!

Nice shots, Burd. You've got to get back there for more photos of the Pileated Woodpecker and their young. Can you get in a different position for better lighting ? If you went there at a different time, would that help the lighting ? That would make for some great shots. I have only found a nesting tree one time and unfortunately it was their last day in the nest. But, I did get a few photos. I hear them all the time in the woods behind my house but I haven't bothered to look for their nest.

Your Bald Eagle shots, as do duc's, give me the fever. However, I am fairly disciplined in that from mid-October to mid-December, I will be consumed by the eagles. I usually take 5,000 to 6,000 photos during that period just of the Bald Eagles.

Thanks all! Linth I wondered about the lighting with the Pileated also. They have built it on the shaded part of the tree. I was there from about 12:45pm until 5pm and noticed it was still in the shade. I may take a trip later this evening as the nest is not that far of a walk. Believe me I wanted the light. As I was exiting the river I stopped near a section of old dead tree's..I could hear some heavy pecking right on the other side of the tree's about 20 feet away..but I was standing on shale and it crunch's.. so no bird when I got around to where I heard it. lol
