I was thinning my radishes today, and pulled up a decent sized radish. I was super disappointed to see it was riddled with worms! (Root maggots?) Anyway, I read online that you can put down Diazanon to get rid of them, but we're going au natural this year, and I have zero desire to put chemicals down. Any other way to get rid of them? I've posted a pic, and will add a few more.
Worms in my Radishes!
Yep, the root maggot Delia planipalpis . It is the larva of a fly, so the best non-chemical control is floating row covers or the equivalent. The organic folks offer other solutions including diatomaceous earth, wood ashes etc.
