And, one lone Mourning Dove on the ground:
Daily Photo's Volume #304
Last one for me today, a Blue Jay ... now I'm going to finish cooking our dinner and get ready to watch the NCAA championship game! GO DUKE!
I've been a big Duke fan for years but I won't really be upset if Butler wins, they have a great team (won 25 games in a row!)
Have a great evening/night everyone! See y'all later. ^_^
Plantlady, your pair of Buntings are so pretty. How lucky you are to see them again. Your jay and dove are beautiful too.
Wow...you all have been as busy as beavers posting all your beautiful birds.
Pelle...so glad to see that you are able to get such nice shots...way to go!!
Our Barn Swallows were busy today flying through the barn all day long. I so enjoyed watching them flying and catching bugs in the air, they are such a welcomed sight. I checked last years calendar and they are a day earlier than last year. I will have some pics to share as soon as I get them processed.
Been digging in the dirt all day...good grief am I out of shape!!
Nice one Nanny...I still haven't gotten a close shot of the Crows!
Lin, Nice shots! So glad you got to see the painted Bunting pair again!
Nanny, Very handsome Crow!!
Seemed to see swallows flying around today. Not sure which type.
Everyone, what a nice assortment of birds pics. it's very nice to come and browse here.
Thanks for the great comments on the previous thread and the welcome back.
I received a new laptop, and I'm not used to it yet. It took me a while to learn a few things about the new window, and how to upload my pictures in the right folders. It's very different to what I was used too.
Here a few pictures I took the last couple of days. A song sparrow came by to say hello.
Thanks everyone, for this great thread. An incredible variation of birds and neat info. To Hack, trying to distinguish between Downy and Hairy has driven me crazy. Thanks for the difference of spots on the tail feathers. While I had my nose in the bird book comparing the two, I also noticed that the white eyeband of the Downy includes the eye, but not for the Hairy. To Duc, I've been thinking about an Oriole feeder, but I really wanted something that could be used by both Hummers and Orioles. And voila, I just need to take the plastic yellow flowers out of my hummer feeder. Great idea.
Nanny: Great shot of that Crow. I've seen a couple lately, hear them mostly ... can't get one to stay perched in one place long enough to get a picture!
dellrose: Those Barn Swallows are awesome! What a pretty bird.
Burn: Love that Bohemian Waxwing! And, what a cute shot of the HP clinging to the suet feeder!
Wow, these threads sure fly by ... ahem, no pun intended. I can't believe we are over 130 posts already! I've participated in monthly bloom threads for different plants, but the birds should be daily threads for sure with the numbersw we see and photograph.
I think this is the best forum by far on DG, I know it's become my favorite! Thanks to everyone for sharing pic's of your birdie friends! Viewing all of these great photo's is a great way to begin each day with a cup of coffee, and great way to say g'nite. Sleep well everyone.
Rose, I love those Barn Swallows!!!
Burn, Nice shots of the Bohemian Waxwing, Hairy and Song Sparrow!
*** Lily_Love will be starting the New Thread soon***
We've been traveling the past few days, so haven't been on the board much. Currently in Uvalde County Texas. Had a good afternoon of birding yesterday. Lifers included Caracara, Rufous-crowned Sparrow, and Vermillion Flycatcher. Other highlights, Golden-fronted and Ladderback WP's, lots of BC hummers and Lesser Goldfinches in breeding color. Hoped to spot some Golden-cheeked Warblers and Black-capped Vireos, but no luck. Maybe today.
A pic of a Black Vulture dining on a road-killed 'coon south of Concan, TX. There were actually two of the coons and Turkey Vultures, Black Vultures and a Caracara were all feeding on them, but the Caracara was spooky, no pic.

Wow, Nan Crow nest? How far up do they build their nest? Lin, nice Blue Jay, and Gorgeoussssssss Buntings. Duc I must get a Nectar feeder for my 'snowbird'. Your Bullock Orioles are wo cute. Elphaba, what a variety of waterfowls you have in your area! I love to see them all someday. Love those Roseate Spoonbills against the blue sky; perfect! Rose, Phoebes are so sweet, I love their singing in the early morning, at noon, or at any other time ^_^.
Guess we posted at the same time, Lily. Wow. I almost missed a whole thread.
Red, yes we did. Good morning to you. Glad you've enjoyed your trip at Uvalde county in Tx. Thank you for sharing your pictures for those of us that couldn't go.
