It is called a "dead tree." It looks pretty cool but I cannot find any info on it. Any would be great. Thanks -
New succulent...wanting more info on this...
I don't know anything about cacti and succulents but your plant looks familiar. I see you are not a paid subscriber so you can't access the C & S forum. I posted over there and asked if some of the folks over there could come take a look at your picture. I bet someone will be able to give you a correct ID.
Lin
It's an Asclepid... perhaps a Huernia or Orbea species.
Thanks Bob, I thought it looked familiar but didn't know for sure what it was, even though I have one Huernia ... there are so many that look alike.
RxAngel: If you scroll down this page in Plant Files, there are 35 Orbea, with photo's for comparison. Maybe you will find a match for your plant: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=orbea&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&searcher%5Bgrex%5D=&search_prefs%5Bblank_cultivar%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search
There are also 56 Huernia's with photo's listed here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=huernia&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&searcher%5Bgrex%5D=&search_prefs%5Bblank_cultivar%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search&offset=0
Thanks so much! I am honored to have had a visit from my hero, PalmBob! I love succulents and unusual plants!
Thanks again for everyone's help, and thanks, PlantLadyLin, for posting in the C&S forum...I really appreciate it!
Angie
Your dead tree is a Caralluma schweinfurthii. It will also bloom. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/161530/
Angie: It looks like podster recognized the plant and was able to give you an exact ID. What a cute little bloom it will have too!
How cool! It will BLOOM???? I just got it because it was unusual....blooms are a bonus!
Thanks again, everyone!
