Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Visit with friends...
Betty
YA HOO
I'm first
Tubby
You are indeed 'Tubby'...how are you feeling today? Got those easter eggs painted..Debbie gave you a few photo's to copy..how many did you get done? lol..
Sure wish I could come inside and call it a day but I have to as per the burning permit I got have to watch the fire until it goes out then douse with water...
Did groceries and most of what was on my 'to do' list and just got home, was Kyle, asked if I wanted company for a few hours...boy is he growing, he came with me to get the permit and as we're walking I notice he now towers over me, not HARD to do when I'm only 5' tall when standing straight..
Between us we got a few things done, managed to find the floormat I had painted for front deck, where, under spare room bed, drats, couldn't remember where I put it,set out the front deck cafe set and birdhouse, only thing left in front is the water feature..that comes tomorrow...then Kyle helped me take down almost all of the back deck enclosure, lordy I love it..washed everything on bad deck, through a lot of hand painted flower pots in the garbage, was going to put them near the roadside for people to take but thought kids would probably smash them and then I'd have to pick up the pieces...
While I was washing up all the back deck chairs/table and decorative pieces Kyle started to burn..
Ok i made it though do not ocme to much, I'm second...
Everyone have a blessed Easter.. happiness , be well.
YIKES, too much in a hurry to change, today was casual Friday so I decided to leave the outfit on that I had at work..piece of advice..when wearing nylons, do not start a few..ouch, sparks were flying, one got wedged in my shoe and the nylon started to burn...have to find something to put on it tonight..first ouch of the season...
I smell like a B.B.Q. Betty right now, can't wait to get into a bath..
Thunder, did get to the Garden Gallery, omg with all the people having spring fever and out in town I thought I'd best get back home..did take some photo's for you though...
Remember, this is a primitive outhouse, meant for garden art only...
THIRD PLACE! Is that the White ribbon?
Well - Crissy I must get some Horse manure STAT ! LOL Betty - you may be right...Creeping Jenny might be hiding but I kinda doubt it as things are starting to turn green again...
Garden Highlight of the Day: My most "complicated" hibiscus... the Rum Runner ....has sprouted some leaves. So many of you are grumbling ("Mary - WHY did you complain SO much about your dead hibiscus !).
Well - I would never have thought...as dead as they look. :) The other four are still just as dead looking as ever.
DH is driving me crazy with his "CRS" disease. I bought a croton Sunday...and he tells me...."I'll move the Texas Star across the path...and then plant the croton there"... so he moves Texas Star and plants the pink hardy hibiscus in it's place... Doesn't "remember" telling me to put the croton there...
Then DS rents Sherlock Holmes last night....and DH says he's "never seen it".... (we went on a "date" a couple months ago and saw it). So I told DH that I must have seen it with my boyfriend. LOL!!!
Back later tonight....
Hugs,
Mary
Such pretties....best I go call my sister, called earlier to wish her Happy Birthday but she was out..if I don't do it now I'll fall asleep and won't make her 'good sister list'...seeing as I'm her only sister that would not be good...
Best..enjoyable day all around
Worse..no worse
What did I learn to day? easy one, don't wear nylons at a bonfire...lol
Enjoy your evening everyone
White ribbon is ok Mary..
SO laughing at you, yep, some of the shrubs look dead well into June sometimes..I've been known to pull them out, throw them in some corner and find them blooming shortly after..did learn that lesson...leave them be....
Oh Mary, DH probably only had eyes for you on your date that's why he doesn't remember Sherlock Holmes...lol
Sharon must either be out painted the town or already in bed...at least I called...
Went and worked the fire, still going strong so have to stay up a little longer...
Mary none of my hibiscus have started sprouting yet, don't you dare give up on them!
If your DH has CRS disease (((((((((((((((((((big big big big hugs)))))))))))))))))))), my grandmother had that and it is no picnic, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
Betty Betty Betty Drats Drats and more Drats! I hope that burn gets better real fast and it's not serious, nylons are extremely flammable. Seems like Kyle is doing great! I don't see any type of bandage on his hand/arm.
Someone posted somewhere that they wanted Tulip Magnolia Seeds, but I can't find the post to see who it was!
Well I'm going to hit the hay here in a couple hours, so I'm going to get off of this and go chat with Dave. I'll see ya'll in the morning!
Crissy, he goes a week Tuesday to have the wires removed, nope, he just puts the temp. cast on when in school as not to bang it...I heard ALL about his accident tonight, play by play..lol..he especially went on to tell me that as soon as he called 911 the telephone locks, apparently and I didn't know this but most likely you all do, the telephones have a tracking device in them so where ever the call is coming from emergency rescue can find you..amazing..
I laughed, he said he went last night with Greg to Toronto to the snowmobile show and they had atv's as well, Kyle said the first thing he looked at was the pully on them and said, nope, I'll pass...too cute..
He told me that Braedon and Caleb spent their allowance this month and didn't set enough aside for their telephone cards so I guess this grandma will be going to get each one for Easter, better than chocolates anyway...
Crissy off to bed you go, think we've all got the gardening bug again, no counting sheep we'll be counting Magnolia's and tulips...lol
Night everyone, this time I really am going to bed...
Sorry I haven't made it back over here very often lately. I have been running in circles....finished several crochet projects...working on some with mom......but...
Best Best Best......look what I bring home tomorrow morning!!!!!!
Worst. One of online friends, whom I can't name right now, was just diagnosed with breast cancer and could use all of our prayers.
Learned....you don't know what will happen if you don't try.
Wishing all of you a Happy Easter!
Thanks Betty & Crissy! You see - I'm learning every Day !
LOL Betty - DH only had eyes for me ! Hm... :) Kind of doubt it ....But good try ...
I promise to not give up on my hibiscus ! Tubby - plan to plant those seeds you sent this weekend...any advice / tips on that?
I'll check back in a bit...
Betty - be careful around the fire pit in nylons... I agree w/ Crissy - could've been much worse !
Hugs,
Mary
Betty, thanks for the new thread, and look who is first jumping in! Nice to see you posting Tubby! Are you ready for Easter?
Betty, take care of that burn, you don't need it to get infected!
None of my hibiscus are sprouting either. They are usually the last plant to show any signs of life! Make sure you cut off any dead branches.
Trisha, love the new car!
Betty, I absolutely love that outhouse !!!! thanks for the photos...we go to this second hand shop every once in a while...and one time we went they had a whole bunch of toilets, and I tried to convince hubby we needed one to use as a planter for the back yard !!! he said NO WAY!!!
that garden shop is just lovely, I would love to have a job in a place like that!!
congrats on the vehicle Trish...
Trisha's doing the 'happy dance'...got her wheels..love the color..what an Easter it will be for you..bet you'll be driving around town in your Sunday best this year! How's the bike coming along? Heart just sank when I heard you say an on-line friend has cancer...prayers for her and her family....they've done wonders with breast cancer, am sure there will be a miracle on it's way...just the word ' c a n c e r ' brings shrills..
I'm sure I have a hibiscus in the back garden near the frame, will have to see if it's budding as well.. looked at a lot of the shrubs, can see green growth and brown on the upper part from last year..think you should clip off the brown or can you still get growth on the brown part of the twig? You can tell I really know nothing about gardening, I plant anything anywhere if if it grows it grows ..turns out beautiful that way...
Mary, there you go under estimating yourself..am sure that was the reason he didn't remember the movie...
As for the burn was just a spark, no big deal..nylons are garbage though..lol
Well I've an entire day ahead of me, with getting so much done yesterday I can slow down my pace...challenge of the day..getting the pond up and running....come onnnnn daylight...
Off for breakfast..will drop in on break time...
Morning Betty. Sounds like you enjoy working in the garden! We will be waiting for pond pictures.
If anyone has hibiscus, cut off the brown dead twigs. Nothing grows from them, new growth will come from the ground.
Tubby Hope you got some sleep last night! Are you still going through therapy? How is it going?
Only have a minute but needed to tell Trisha I'm so happy you got your car. Independence is invaluable.
Loved the outhouse Betty. All it needs is a roll of TP!!!
Happy Day everyone...
And a garden magazine! LOL!
I thinkI would cut a hole, and sink the flower pot too!
Lots and lots of prayers going out to your online friend Trisha.
Hibiscus bloom in the mid summer (July to August) and down here up until the first freeze, so they're not growing yet, still a tad too early for them.
Love the new van Trisha, AWESOME!!! Congrats!
Very cute outhouse Betty! I want to build an outhouse and make it a workshop for myself, but I'll need heat and A/C, of course :)
Well I'm going to go visiting and I'll bbl!
time for a break, lordy this gardening thing takes a lot of energy..wish there was a way to tell the Wii fit instructor why I haven't been on but that I've done my fitness..lol..
Great ideas, might just have to do the hole and the magazine..as for the toilet paper, all I can think of is the kitties wanting to play with it and me having to clean up...
Keep looking at one of the shrubs near the big frame and am sure it's a hibiscus, should have marked it, might when finding a few minutes to look through pictures find the photo that it's displayed...will get my cutters out before weekend is over and do some shrub maintenance...
Lordy, when trees/shrubs/plants are in bloom, the garden art looks picture perfect..setting it in amongst the sand and bit of greenery just doesn't do it justice..guess I'll have to be a little more patient..
Well back for my 2nd shift..
Pump is doing it's thing, I've been taking out chairs/garden art and setting them in their place..lordy, doesn't look the best with no shrubs/plants in bloom..oh well, that will come..will make things easier and I won't have to worry about getting it done..
Wish I didn't have to go to Bernie's..could get the pond operational, instead I'll be sitting and fidgeting..
One good thing, is if before I leave the pond is 3/4 empty, the leaves and muck that found a home in it over the winter might dry up in the sunshine and it will be so much easier for me to finish the clean up..
The adirondak (Muskoka chairs to me) needs painting, really only the front yard one so another project on my 'to do' list but most certainly not this weekend...
I'm amazed if you put your mind to it just how much you can accomplish..back to work...
Hello everyone - isn't this a beautiful day?! I know it's Good Friday, but I've been very busy - we're prepping our home for an Open House on April 17th, and we don't usually have enough time to do everything "on our plate" so it's lovely to have the day off, and be so productive! ^_^
My home looks like a total disaster right now, but I've been packing my sewing cabinet (off the wall now) and our wall-hung bookcase, and my DH is patching and I'll paint later. Lovely weather outside and I wish I could spend time in the garden, but as we're not going to stay here, we just have to clean up leaves and make sure the garden doesn't get overgrown with weeds! Keep it trimmed back too! ^_^
Well, back to work and make dinner, too!
Take care, everyone!!! ((((((((((Big Hug to all))))))))))))))

Hello All;
It was a Gorgeous Good Friday for us today as well ! I had to work a full day...but it was just like a vacation with the beautiful weather...
Tomorrow I have designated as the "Family Cleaning Day"... Have maid svc ( a special once a year treat for me) coming in at 9am... Have told the family ...they don't have to "clean"...just "organize" . We are having a multi family garage sale at MIL's next weekend... so a great time to scale down on all this JUNK we have...
Susan I might pretend we are having an Open House as well... It's so hard to get rid of stuff isn't it! Well - it is for me... I must have inherited my Mom's pack rat gene...
I'll try to get a few pics of the hibiscus...to get all your opinions...on whether I've cut them back enough or not... This weekend I'll transplant the croton I bought... and DH & I will finish planting the garden if the weather holds out...I want to plant Tubbys hibiscus seeds in a BIG pot...but DH says to put them in little pots until they sprout then transplant...
I'll pop back on in a bit...
Hugs,
Mary
PS:: Congrats on the van Trisha! I must have somehow missed that post !
Your DH is right - put them in small pots first, until they get settled - it forces the roots to clump rather than get long and leggy, and plants are happiest when they're "cozy" rather than having too big a pot to stretch out in ^_^
As for Open House - our place was so tidy and put together.......... now it looks like we've rooted through everything in the house and brought it out! We're packing some "extra" dishes to put them in storage, etc, so we're emptying cupboards and linen closet, and taking stuff down off the walls, so Everything's out!! Even found some old music tapes and we don't have a reliable tape player anymore, so "out they go!" Don't have will or space to keep 'em, and running around to find "homes" for them is counter-productive ^_^

Don't work too hard Susan. it will all come togther before you know it!
Susan that's what I did when I moved cross country. We don't realize what we keep until we go to move, and the longer we're in a house the more it fills up with 'stuff.' Maybe that's why some people move every third year.
Was a gorgeous day yesterday but I was stuck inside working. We got thunderstorms last night, and the rest of the weekend is supposed to be gorgeous. I've a bunch of plants to go through and see what I have, so that's my project. It's foggy out right now, but it'll clear up here in a few minutes.
I feel so bad, since it's April Tiga got her first Advantage treatment of the year and she's not happy. She keeps running from me :(
Morning, finally family out doing their thing so thought I'd pop in..
Was up and at Walmart picking up chocolates at 7am..picked up a few treats at grocery store and was home by 8am..of course, couldn't come home without getting Jeff a Tim Hortons coffee...
Pond is filling up with water, by mid afternoon that project can be checked off..lordy, just had a bath as being in the sludge at bottom on pond, well, let's just say you probably could smell me from there..
Jeff and the boys were on his gps this morning, apparently this goes on around the world, you can key in some kind of hunt, guess people hide a trinket box which also has a pen and pencil and you leave a trinket and take a trinket and leave your name and address so they know where each cash hunter comes from..apparently there are 5 around in a 2 mile radius so off they go on foot, Jeff and the 4 boys trying to find the 1st..sounds like fun...turkey is cooking, pies already out of the oven...Noah asked, 'did you just cook these pies grandma' said 'yes, why' ..so laughing, says 'I thought they were more pretend food for you collection'..at least this time they didn't put their fingers in the pie to test wether or not they were real or fake....
Had a wonderful day yesterday..got to Bernie's at 2pm and didn't come home till almost midnight..Greg/Jeff/Melanie and the boys came about the same time..going to be a treat to see them 3 days in a row...
Took a walk with the boys to check on the horses..Betty (wouldn't you know my brother called her that) came and wanted to eat my kleenex...
Betty, sounds like your having a wonderful week-end!
LOL at the fake food comment! Kids will say what they are thinking!
Betty, please refresh my mind, on what happened top Mathew? I don't recall!
How are you enjoying your Easter LindaKay...relaxing or busy/busy!
Braedon amazed me with his musical talent..should have known he'd play guitar and sing ... dad spends enough time with his guitars...
Speaking of guitars..Jeff let Braedon take one of his expensive guitars home with him..told him he would be responsible..think guitar is about $3K..Jeff went to pick him up Thursday, went up to his room and here their new yellow lab had eaten the entire case..wow Jeff was a bit more relaxed than I'd have though...just said 'what can you do?'
Mathew had been ill for a few weeks, sinus infection..guess the mass grew to a large proportion and infected the brain area..several times they had to do surgery, not sure how it went but they had to pretty much open the entire top of his head, remove the brain and flush..pretty scary I'll tell you..thank God for Sick Children's Hospital..he was in for 2 months and underwent re-training for talking..you can tell he's had difficulties but is doing wonderfully..
My Jeff singing a song to annoy m e..
